The story of the stolen Jones...
In 1977, my father bought me a brand new reso from a then unknown builder in Oklahoma. In 1987, that RQ Jones reso was stolen from the trunk of my car in Tacoma, WA. I swore that I would get it back. To that end, I got a big stick and made a big sign offering a reward, and began walking through the roughest neighborhoods of town like Buford Pusser...
When I got it back, it made the front page of the Tacoma News-Tribune...My name was "Bobby Scott" then, an unfortunate corruption of my real name by a myopic radio program director...Here's the newspaper article...

The Tacoma PD wound up keeping the instrument in their evidence room for 6 weeks, but I eventually got it back, and the money, after I agreed to drop all charges against the crook. It seems that if you offer a reward for something, and then have the thief arrested, you are entrapping the poor criminal. Never mind the fact that if he had just taken the original payment I would have called it good and let him go free...So they let this creep go due to a loophole in the law.
