Doug Cox has been
following his own path, exploring 'roots' music for close to 20 years. He was
the first Canadian Dobro player to perform at Dobrofest in Slovakia, and has
toured and recorded throughout Canada and the United States with many groups,
including Travels With Charley, Rick Fines, Chuck Brodsky, Michael Messer, Long
John Baldry, Amos Garrett, Ellen McIlwaine, and The Irish Rovers to name a few! A busy teacher, with his
own instructional video and book series through Centerstream Publications, Doug
has developed his own voice on the Dobro. This can be heard on Doug's solo CDs, Canadian
Borderline, Bone Bottle Brass or Steel, and Life Is So
Peculiar. Doug's CDs and instructional materials can be ordered through Box
10034, 2064 Comox Ave, Comox, BC, V9M1S5 or through his web page; http://www.islandnet.com/~dobro. Doug plays a mid-70's
pre-Gibson Dobro and uses John Pearse strings.
