Orville Johnson

Ballard, Washington

"Multi- instrumentalist Orville Johnson is the guy northwest musicians call when they want that perfect Dobro part on their latest recordings." So says James Bush in the Encyclopedia of Northwest Music (Sasquatch Press 1999). Orville says the Dobro is his favorite instrument of all to play. He picked it up about 1970, and like many resophones of that time was inspired to play by Mike Auldridge’s work with the Seldom Scene and Mike’s first solo Dobro album.

Orville plays, teaches, writes for Acoustic Guitar Magazine and others, and has had the chance to play and study many styles of music. He puts that knowledge to use on his recent Dobro release Slide & Joy (OJM 002 1999) and his latest acoustic blues CD Blueprint for the Blues.

Orville's CD's are available at PO Box 16435, Seattle, WA 98116 or contact him at 206.932.4971 or orvillej@attbi.com
